Thank you Angela! Our school is currently heading down this path of aligning guided reading with reciprocal teaching. It is a fairly challenging time, as this process is affecting cultural as well as pedagogical change, however your personal endorsement of the strategy is a great boost!
Much appreciated Angela. Reciprocal Teaching is a great strategy that requires time and patience as students acquire skills to engage effectively. It is worth persevering since it develops metacognition, supports differentiation and of couse, improves reading comprehension.
Thank you so much for your help and the tips you give. I am a devotee of Reciprocal Teaching but it takes time and long-sightedness to gradually have students accept it as a powerful, lifelong learning force.
The prompts and other aids you have made available also are a grteat assistance in employing Teacher Aides to guide some small-group sessions.
Thank you Angela- the reciprocal prompt card is a very useful resource. I have it handy in front of me during my reading lessons.
