Is Guided Reading for me?
Guided reading is for all teachers and teachers' assistants who support groups of students in reading. As guided reading enables learning to be differentiated, it is an essential part of a balanced reading program. If you are interested in building knowledge of guided reading or enhancing your existing expertise, this workshop will be invaluable.
What will I learn?
Guided Reading Online will address:
- the purpose of guided reading
- the place of guided reading within a balanced reading program
- ways to group students
- text selection
- introducing the text
- options for reading the text
- clarifying, supporting and discussing aspects of the text.
Guided Reading Online walks through each component of a guided reading lesson and you are encouraged to apply the learning with groups of students as you go.
What do I need to view the course videos?
A broadband internet connection is recommended. Videos are embedded in our course site but hosted by Youtube, therefore you will need a browser that can play Youtube videos.
How long will I have to complete the course?
You can take your time completing the modules of the course as you will have three (3) months to work your way through the course.
Will completing this course give me a formal qualification?
At the completion of this course you will have access to download and print the course certificate which confirms your completion of 3 hours of course work.
